Podcasts

I have to be honest here. I don’t listen to podcasts and it would be really hard for me to act like I do. They are hard for me to get into because I would rather watch people talk than listen. When you’re listening to a conversation you’re missing out on all the hand gestures and facial expressions that really help you understand a person’s character. I also get really bored when I have nothing to look at, which may or may not be kind of sad. I find that whenever I try to listen to a podcast I end up surfing the net and totally space out on what they’re discussing. 5 minutes will go by and I’ll ask myself, “wait, what are they talking about?” and then have to start the whole thing over.

But… there are 2 podcasts that I have tried out in the past week. One would be This American Life, and the other, Sound of Young America. Between the 2 I definitely like Sound of Young America more. Jesse Thorn has the kind of voice that’s easy to listen to, and his humor and enthusiasm help me gain some interest in the topic of discussion. He also always seems to get along with his guests really well, which makes the whole thing a seem all the more friendly and easy going.

Podcasts are something that I have been trying to get into for awhile, but it never seems to work out. Despite my urges to instead watch talk shows, I will continue to try podcasts until I find one that can fully have my attention. So the saga continues…
